Restore Your Appearance After Pregnancy
A mommy makeover in Houston is a customized combination of surgical procedures designed to restore your pre-pregnancy appearance. At Aesthetic Surgery Institute, Dr. Do, a double board-certified cosmetic surgeon with over 20 years of experience and more than 20,000 procedures performed, tailors every mommy makeover to your body, your goals, and your timeline. Diet and exercise can only achieve so much after pregnancy; some physical changes require a surgical solution.

What Does a Mommy Makeover Consist Of?
We can help you decide on one or a combination of procedures during an initial consultation. They include:
- Tummy Tuck–Loose skin, stretch marks, and excess fat (or flab) on the abdomen are common after pregnancy. We can remove excess fat and tighten abdominal muscles to smooth out your belly and make it look flatter so you have a more fit appearance. The area can be reshaped by removing excess skin as well. The procedure is sometimes combined with liposuction to achieve an even slimmer waistline.
- Breast Augmentation/Lift–The procedure can enlarge smaller breasts, even out asymmetrical breasts, and lift breasts to the desired location. We can also restore the size and shape of your breasts following pregnancy. Implant placement, using silicone or saline breast implants, may be used for augmentation procedures.
- Liposuction–A common mommy makeover surgery, liposuction removes excess fat from the abdomen, buttocks, thighs, neck, chin, arms, calves, and back. First, tumescent fluid is injected to begin the breakdown of fat cells. Fatty tissue is then removed by a high-pressure vacuum delivered through a hollow cannula inserted under the skin. Liposuction is not for treating weight loss or obesity and should be combined with a healthier lifestyle to stay in shape.
Mommy Makeover Recovery Time
Recovery time depends on the procedure, its extent, and your individual body. Swelling should start to subside within a week or two of a tummy tuck, but it can take up to six months for it to fully disappear. Swelling and changes in sensation are common after a breast lift or augmentation. Soreness can last for several weeks, but patients often return to work in a few days. A supportive post-surgical bra must be worn during recovery.
Liposuction generally has a very short recovery time. You will be walking after the surgery and go home the same day. However, you won’t be able to drive right away.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Mommy Makeover?
Good candidates for a mommy makeover are women who have completed their families, are at or near a stable goal weight, are in good general health, and do not smoke. Most surgeons recommend waiting at least 6 months after your last pregnancy before scheduling a consultation, and at least 3 months after finishing breastfeeding if breast surgery is part of your plan. Our surgeon will evaluate your medical history, body composition, and cosmetic goals during your free consultation to confirm candidacy and recommend the right combination of procedures.
